Plenary Closing Panel: The Draft EU Space Act – What’s at Stake?
Description

In June 2025, the European Commission unveiled the proposal for an EU Space Act (EUSA). The purpose of EUSA is to create and regulate an EU internal market, ensuring safety, resilience, and sustainability of space activities. This comprehensive regulation includes requirements for the authorisation of EU operators of space services and space-based data, as well as conditions for non-EU operators to offer services and data in the EU market.

As negotiations are underway, stakeholders across Member States, industry in the EU and beyond, and international organisations are evaluating the far-reaching implications of EUSA. This panel brings together representatives from government and EU institutions, industry, and academia to provide a comprehensive overview of EUSA, its expected impact on the Dutch and European space landscape, and the diverse perspectives on an EU coordinated approach to space. The audience will gain a clear understanding of the key EUSA provisions, insights from their impact on the industry, and the tools to assess how the prospective changes may influence the broader space sector.
