Alex van Nieuwland is a Senior Policy Officer for Aviation and Space at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Based in Brussels, he contributes to the development of European and international policies that support a competitive, secure, and sustainable space and aviation sector, working closely with EU institutions and member states.
In his role, Alex represents Dutch interests in multilateral forums and policy discussions on issues including space governance, regulatory frameworks, and the responsible use of outer space. He has delivered national statements in international settings such as the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS), advocating rules-based cooperation, sustainability, and equitable access to space.
