Water quality is global problem and requires local monitoring for inland water and coastal zones. In this workshop, governmental users and service providers discuss pathways to develop information services. Two governmental organisations present (a) European and national legislation, (b) derived needs for water quality monitoring, and (c) pathways to stimulate innovation and precompetitive procurement.
Users and service providers will discuss opportunities, challenges and obstacles in downscaling global data in information services and the possible need of using digital (twinning) platforms. Experiences with co-creation and co-design will be shared. The necessity for including local (in situ) data in the services will also be discussed.
The audience is challenged with statements and invited to comment on the participant contributions. Discussions and comments are used as input for a paper that will be published after the symposium by Netherlands Space Office.
