Dr. Marnix Laanen (M) is co-founder and co-owner of Water Insight (since 2005). Water Insight offers ecological water quality monitoring solutions for surface waters, based on EO data and monitoring by in situ spectrometers of their own design. They also participate in European research projects. As a forerunner, Water Insight also has ample experience with acceptation, regulatory boundaries and policy development with respect to EO data, e.g. discussing how to get EO data accepted for WFD reporting in the Netherlands. Dr. Laanen is an expert in close sensing with in situ spectrometers having co-designed the WISPstation and WISP Orca, which are used for water quality monitoring and satellite product cal/val. Water Insight products are used all over the world and their data backend currently holds about one million in situ spectral measurements.
