Francesca del Monaco is pioneering the future of laser-based satellite connectivity as the Optical Technology Director at Viasat. She spearheads the strategic and technical execution of the company’s space optical communication roadmap, managing a multimillion-dollar development program and a global supply chain of over 15 key suppliers.
Since joining Viasat in 2018 to establish the Amsterdam office, Francesca has been instrumental in developing the Viasat-3 Ground Network Infrastructure, including leading AI-based automation programs for network management. In 2023, she earned an MBA in Technology Innovation Management and transitioned into her current role.
Previously, Francesca served in the ESA Project Management Office for the Galileo program, where she participated in the procurement and launch campaign for the FOC-M7 satellites in French Guiana. With extensive leadership experience in the Air Navigation sector, she is also a dedicated advocate for the industry's future, actively championing Viasat’s diversity and inclusion initiatives.
