Julia is a senior TNO scientists/integrator who joined TNO in 2024 and specializes in developing computer vision algorithms and AI‑driven autonomous decision‑making processes for defense and critical sensing applications. Among her technical contributions, Julia is leading defense programs and projects and her work centers on developing space-based Intelligence, Surveying and Reconnaissance, from Electro Optical (EO) data, for military operations.
Julia received her Master of Engineering in Geodesy in 2008, from the Technical University of Athens and in 2018 her MSc. in Geo-informatics. Since 2008, she gained extensive experience extracting actionable information from multi-modal sensing—particularly focusing on RGB imagery and LiDAR—to provide reliable perception for autonomous platforms. She worked for long in industry and academia (UTwente) and today, object detection, classification as well as sensor fusion from satellite imagery are few of the research topics that she is pursuing within her projects.
