Speaker Bio
Dr. Susanne Wirwille joined the JHU Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in 2019, and she has supported the USSF Space Development Agency (SDA) since 2024. Prior to SDA, Dr. Wirwille led a NATO task group on Alliance Space Deterrence Framework, in which she directed two space deterrence wargames.
From 2013 to 2019, Dr. Wirwille served at NATO Headquarters, as the Head of Strategy and Policy for the NATO Science & Technology Organization. Preceding NATO, Dr. Wirwille served as the founding Director of the Science and Technology Directorate at NORAD-USNORTHCOM.
Dr. Wirwille had previously served in several scientific positions at the U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa, U.S. Joint Forces Command, and the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group. She started her vocation in the Space & Technology Division of TRW, developing and fielding quantum technologies for space and undersea applications.
