Harm van de Wetering is director of the Netherlands Space Office. As ‘strategist of Dutch space’, he promotes the development and use of space for science, economy and society in the Netherlands and abroad.
Trained as an engineer and a public administration expert, Van de Wetering enjoys bringing different worlds closer together. Those of the engineer and the policymaker, of technology and society. He is practical, results-oriented and always looking for new, goal-oriented collaborations and solutions that help society move forward and become more sustainable.
Van de Wetering held various positions in the Dutch government and co-founded the Dutch Emissions Authority. Since 2018, Van de Wetering has been working to professionalize the NSO. He was a key founder of the Long-term Space Agenda: an ambitious future vision for Dutch space in an international context. He also acts as head of the Dutch delegation within the European Space Agency (ESA).
