Dick van Ingen is the Permanent Military Representative of the Netherlands to NATO, representing Dutch military interests on behalf of the Chief of Defence. In this role, he participates in NATO’s Military Committee, the Alliance’s highest military authority, which provides military advice to the North Atlantic Council.

Born in Oosterbeek on 6 November 1966, Dick van Ingen began his military career as a conscripted non-commissioned officer in the Royal Netherlands Army before transferring to the Royal Netherlands Air Force as a guided missile officer. He was deployed during the Gulf War of 1991 as a Patriot Tactical Control Officer in Israel. His career includes numerous operational and staff positions in air and missile defence and command and control. He has held senior roles within NATO, the Netherlands Ministry of Defence, and the Defence Staff, and completed advanced military education in Germany and the United Kingdom. He holds a master’s degree in international security and Strategy from King’s College London.
